Before you book

3 hours in Kyoto at one of two studios in Sakyo Ward (Studio NIN Yase or Studio NIN Kendo); staff message you before the visit to confirm which.
This is real forging: raw iron heated in a furnace and hammered by you, then cooled, sharpened and polished into a knife of about 13-15 cm.
Included: blacksmith costume, towel, water, tools, materials, a box and a bag. Bring socks. Not suitable for children under 15; the operator says the customer is responsible in case of injury.
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before. Carrying the knife: keep it boxed and wrapped and pack it in checked luggage for your flight, never in your cabin bag; on Japanese trains a knife must be wrapped and inside a bag.
